"Hardly. That is nothing." Though he was a little too spent right now to offer more than that, really. But he meant each word, and if it made her smile, then he considered it successful.
And her following words, it was clear in the look on his face that he liked them all too much. He felt his insides warmer for wholly different reasons now, and he brushed his nose against hers in a tender gesture, shifting just a little closer to her. "Then... you should do it more. As often as you'd like."
Moving close to him was as easy as breathing, her body finding a way to fit in against his, leg sliding through his to hook him closer. "I think I will. I'll have to come stop by your house sometime. And your forge. I'd like to see the whole smithing process."
She felt dopey. Like... teenage first puppy love dopey. She wanted to giggle and stay up all night talking about stupid things and not stop touching him.
God, her brothers would be pulling her tail so hard over this...
For what is worth, Fíli would be more than alright with staying up all night talking about nothing and touching one another. His own insides felt light and fluttery just looking at her, his heart a bird in his ribcage.
The back of his fingers stroked along her cheek as he kept running them slowly through her hair, and at her words his smile stretched just so, his tone carrying a bit of amusement. "Oh, I'll show you just how I strike that anvil with my hammer. I will have sparks flying just for you."
So, he could not help himself teasing a little there. It wasn't the most blatant metaphor he could have gone with either, so it wasn't that terrible of him. Just a little bit.
Okay, that did make her giggle, her head ducking down against his as she gave him a teasing poke. "If you're striking the anvil with your hammer, I might get jealous. And worry about damaging it. Your hammer that is." Horrible metaphor, Fili, but so perfectly him. "And maybe I can meet your brother, too."
He'd talked about him, but Riley still wanted to meet him. See if it was just Fili that was the way he was or if that extended to all dwarves in general. She was thinking that the pull between them was just between the two of them, but... hey. Who knows? Maybe dwarves and shifters were like... chocolate and strawberries.
He loved hearing her laugh, that giggle of hers more than enough to make him smile lopsidedly and let out a chuckle of his own, even before she answered. Brushing along her hair near her temple and around her ear, he rested his palm on the side of her head, tipping his head to kiss her nose, cheek, then on the lips. "Don't worry. You are the only forge this hammer will be working on," he murmured with arched eyebrows, and a pointed glance down between their bodies.
Nodding then, he went on. "Oh, I'm certain he will love to meet you. He has been pestering me since I got home with those braids you weaved into my hair, trying to find out who is this new mystery special someone in my life."
"Yeah? Well... I guess it's good this forge has become a one-hammer type deal." She might have come into the city with an eye to meet new people, try new people, play the field and all that, but she also hadn't intended to meet someone quite like him. The thought of curling up with someone else in bed like this just seemed... wrong. So, Fili it was. And she wasn't the slightest bit disappointed about that.
Another laugh, her hand going to the loose hairs of his mustache, giving them a gentle tweak. "Oh, he noticed, did he? And that makes me a special someone? I'm not really finding a downside to this. Guess he's lucky I didn't try to bead my name into or something. 'Riley was here'."
Words that delighted him to no end, and that much was clear on his face. In true, it was not in his nature to seek out more than one partner, certainly not at the same time, though he knew by now that was natural for many of the people here. And having met someone special for him, then he felt like it even less so.
That she felt the same way left him brimming with joy and happiness, a feeling he found a little too difficult to put to words. But he would try, in any case.
"Well, you are a very special someone to me. I would not have let you braid my hair otherwise - even if you are not skilled enough to braid words onto it."
She kissed him softly, something sweet and her attempt to show him that what she was feeling for him was more than just sexual passion and a good time in the sheets. She liked him, and her kind didn't always rely on words to show that. Body language was as much a thing for shifters as scent and words were. His affections showed in more than just the pretty words he made that had her toes curling. It showed in the smile he wore and the way he touched her and made her feel close to him. So she shared that back.
"Keep this up and I'm going to start telling everyone I have a boyfriend and can't come out to play."
Each feeling she conveyed in that kiss, he responded by kissing back, his lips soft and warm, present against hers. He sighed a little as they parted, eyes closing as he let his forehead rest against hers. And it was a good thing that she enjoyed his touches, because he could not help himself from doing just that, whenever he got that chance. Just like now, his free hand continuing to trail along the skin of her neck and shoulder, brushing down her side and back, moving back up to play with her hair again.
"Boyfriend?" He knit his eyebrows in confusion, figuring that the word meant something other than what it sounded like to him. It would be a little silly, if she were calling him a friend who was a boy - especially since he was not a boy. "What is that?"
"Right, right. Terminology. In my time and world it's like... sort of the first stage in a relationship. Boyfriends and girlfriends. I guess you'd think of it as... courting? Though, I'm not really sure what the terminology would be or if there's something for it for you. Significant other. Partner. But we certainly like slapping labels on things and early relationships have that dynamic to them." What did dwarves call their lady friends?
"Oh..." He nodded. "I see. We have no such terms, I don't think. If anything, we would refer to it as a betrothal, if the courtship proved to be successful, and took the next step. Or I would simply call you... my beloved."
It sounded a little silly to him, in true, that word she used. But knowing what it meant, he could not help but like that she thought to call him that, and rather a lot too. Smiling, he continued in a softer tone. "So, if I am your boyfriend, are you my... girlfriend?"
"Beloved, huh? I kind of like that. Betrothal for us is an engagement and that would make the people in it fiances. Then married and man and wife. Or... wife and wife or husband and husband. Which ever way someone's rock rolled." The picture of non-judgmentalism here.
God, she liked that smile. And that tone. It felt private -- not that they weren't alone and naked in bed or anything, but it felt like he was just... solely focused on her. There was a flutter in her stomach at that, and she bit her lip, nodding. "Mm, I am. If... you're good with that."
"Aye, that is the same for us." Well, not wife with wife or husband with husband, at least not officially. But such couples were very much a reality among the dwarves as well, most especially the latter.
His smile grew a little wider at that, warmer too, and he kissed her again, slow and softly. "I am... very good with that." Elated, even. He kissed her again, a quicker peck, as he cupped her face gently as his lips brushed lightly over hers. "My girlfriend, and beloved."
He teased her with her own phrases just like she did him and it was good. Damn good. Her response to him was elation in the form of a purr rumbling through her body, vibrating against him where she was touching him, her hand sliding up into his hair as she returned that kiss.
Of course, then her mouth had to just forget to check in with her brain... "My mate," she sighed, nipping at his lips, hand moving down his chest to rest over his heart. A moment of eyes widening as she realized what she'd said, but...
Shit. It felt right. And she wasn't going to argue semantics. He was hers and she was his. It was as simple as that.
Now, that he did not need to be told what it meant, and her being a shifter only made him surer of what she meant when she said it. It was clear that the word had come unbidden, what with how her eyes widened in surprise right after, but... he liked hearing it all the more for it.
It was not a thought, but a sentiment. Something true and natural, something that came solely from the heart. And though it was not a term he had ever thought to use before, he knew that she would, and he wanted her to just as much as she did.
Inhaling audibly, he brushed his lips against her, nuzzling their noses together as he nodded, then breathed out. "Yes."
A slow smile at that easy acceptance, her hands sliding over blonde curls before her hand moved down along his side, settling over his hip. "I think I'm going to be quite spoiled by you, Fili." Him and his easy acceptance of her ways, his touches and those heart-melting kisses.
He grinned and chuckled at her words, and the soft tone to them, not really taking it as a warning or a complaint because he knew that wasn't what she meant by it. "You don't sound terribly upset about that." And neither should she, really. Nothing would make him happier than to spoil her.
"Nope," she grinned, shaking her head and rubbing her nose over his. "Just means I'm totally vindicated in spoiling you back." Which she would, given the opportunity. In food or affection or attention. Whatever way she could use to show him that he meant something to her.
"What a dreadful fate that awaits me," he murmurs in a lazy but all too satisfied tone, tugging her closer and nuzzling along her neck, settling his head comfortably near her shoulder and collarbone. "I shall look forward to that."
"You know what I'd like to look forward to right now?" She murmured it against the side of his head, kissing there after. "A nap. A nice, restful nap so we can wake up and I can do that all over again."
"Yes... what an excellent idea," he hummed with a soft yawn, closing his eyes. The mere mention of a nap left him feeling quite soft and lazy, and he felt like he could fall asleep all too easily right now, especially while holding her like this. "And then eat the rest of the food too, eventually."
"I think I can work in feeding you while doing horribly dirty and perverted things to you." She chuckled, kissing his head again and settling down, that low rumbling purr of contentment coming from deep in her chest as she cuddled up with him.
"That all sounds terribly messy." Though said in that tone, he would be alright with just about anything. But for now, he was getting comfortable, nuzzling his cheek against her breasts and sighing deeply, settled in for a nice nap.
